This test examines the 3 main subtypes of cells found in blood: red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Used to ascertain the size and relative number of cells, this test provides an excellent indication of underlying problems such as anaemia, which is caused by a decrease in red blood cells and leads to lethargy and shortness of breath. Infections and tissue inflammation can also be detected by analysis of the white blood cell count, and issues such as abnormal clotting or prolonged bleeding may be related to an abnormality of the platelets.

Dr Malik has been my private GP since 2010. He is without a doubt the best doctor I have seen and I wouldn't go to any other doctor. He is available whenever I need him or wherever I am in the world, whether in person or over the phone/email. What sets Dr Malik apart from other GPs is that he really takes the time to establish rapport with his patients, as well as ensuring that he keeps costs low for appointments and tests that aren't covered by private medical insurance. Dr Malik has never charged me for minor bits of administration such as repeat prescriptions as other private GPs may try to do; and has always been available for last minute or out of hours services, for example booster shots for travel injections for last minute trips! Thank you Dr Malik.

I was recommended to Dr Malik from one of his patients as my daughter was ill and needed advice and care as soon as possible rather than having to wait via the usual NHS system. I was not disappointed. He listened to the history over the phone and then swung into action by arranging a scan immediately for my young daughter. It didn't matter what the time of day was, he was always there and ensured to follow up with me to see how I got on with her after the scan. When you are a working Mum and time is so precious and I cannot recommend Dr Malik enough. He is efficient, detailed, compassionate and very knowledgeable. I would absolutely use him for myself or any member of my family and totally recommend him to you.
Dr Hammad is an approachable, kind and effective medical doctor. I happily recommend him.

r Hammad Malik provided exceptional service. He was knowledgeable, methodical and available at any time I had a concern. There was one occasion I called him at 2am and he was alert and happy to address my concern. I am so pleased with his work that I recommended him to several parents and they too were happy with his work.
I have been visiting Dr Hammad now for several years in relation to one particular medical condition. I felt immediately at ease with Dr Hammad and extremely confident in his knowledge and understanding of my issue. In addition I have found him to be communicative, personable and open. Always willing to discuss other issues and venture an experienced opinion on any particular medical condition. Liver function test:
Modern diets can quickly take their toll on your body – especially if you don’t have time to properly exercise. Liver disorders are dramatically on the rise in the West as a consequence of lifestyle choices such as excessive drinking and a rise in the intake of polyunsaturated fats. If detected early enough, damage to the liver such as cirrhosis can be halted and even partially reversed, but it’s vital to have regular checkups to ensure you stay in good health. Other issues such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease can also affect your heart and are linked to an increased risk of cardiac disease and stroke. At HarleyStreetGP we can perform an initial assessment of your liver function and, if necessary, undertake occasional checkups to ensure that lifestyle changes are having a positive impact.
The liver function test looks at several markers of the organ’s functionality and measures a range of indices, from the main protein synthesized by the liver, to the level of antibodies present overall. Conditions such as jaundice and alcohol damage, along with the functioning of the gall bladder, will also make up the report, which will be discussed in person, and on record in the form of a printed document.
Vitamin B12 and folate test Harley Street:
Vitamin B12 and folate are compounds which are vital to healthy cellular growth and repair. Reduced levels can lead to a number of problems, from fatigue and lethargy, to poor appetite and, though rare, impaired balance, confusion and depression. Our modern, busy lifestyles mean that it’s ever more important to maintain good levels of these essential compounds. Reduced presence of vitamin B12 and folate can occur for a variety of reasons, such as poor dietary intake and impaired absorption. Treatment is simple and quick, with folic acid oral supplements and regular Vitamin B12 injection therapy.
Thyroid test Harley Street:
The thyroid gland is situated in the neck and sets the rate at which your body produces energy – your metabolic rate – via the release of thyroid hormones. It also has an impact on the way your organs interact with each other, and can lead to a number of health issues, from weight loss and rapid heartbeat, to depression, anxiety and problems sleeping. Broadly speaking, thyroid issues are the result of it either becoming overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism). An underactive thyroid is most common in women over the age of 40, and frequently leads to symptoms of fatigue.
At HarleyStreetGP, we examine the levels of a hormone in your blood called TSH – Thyroid Stimulating Hormone – along with T4 (thyroxine). TSH is produced by the pituitary gland in the base of the brain and regulates stable levels of thyroid hormones in the blood. Treatment is usually in the form of oral medication, though in some extreme cases, it may require radiotherapy or surgery to remove some of the thyroid gland.
Vitamin D Testing Harley Street:
Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most commonly requested tests for generalised health problems and fatigue. Symptoms can vary considerably and include muscle and bone pains, as well as issues such as low mood and depression. As vitamin D is produced in the body naturally after exposure to sunlight, levels can dip considerably in the winter – especially in the Northern hemisphere. In children, low levels of this vital vitamin can cause severe problems with bone formation, as it controls calcium absorption, and may lead to conditions such as rickets. In older people, low levels of vitamin D can cause problems such as osteoporosis. Following your blood test, if low levels are diagnosed, treatment can easily be administered by way of high dose vitamin D supplements, taken daily or weekly for 2-3 months.
